Asia Pacific Cultural Center
Founded 1996
Mission
Asia Pacific Cultural Center (APCC) serves as an interactive cultural crossroads between local and international communities with the mission to bridge communities and generations through art, culture, education and business. APCC is was formed from the vision of a small group of citizens representing three generations of Americans from Asian and Pacific Islanders heritage. APCC represents 47 countries and cultures, offering programs and services honoring their distinct artistry, business protocols, history and social practices.
Accomplishments
We are extremely proud of our work with students and their families since 2010 in Pierce County, particularly the Tacoma School District. We are proud to report since 2011 we have assisted in graduating over 270 students from high school. We have worked with students of ages 8 to 21 and following them from certain grade levels to graduation and receiving their high school diplomas. Working with students is not all about their school work and activities – it’s especially working with the families. Otherwise these students will never make it through. A lot of the families have issues regarding housing, cash assistance, medical insurance, immigration, and a lot of the families don’t want to deal with their kids anymore. APCC brings them together again, working together with us to make sure the student is back on track with school and on their way to success. We are also proud to say that 80% of our students go on to community/trade college or 4-year colleges. This is an amazing part of our work. Getting the students from “no credits, little credits, bad grades” to college, that is amazing we believe.

Carbon Leadership Forum
Founded 2010
Mission
The Carbon Leadership Forum accelerates the transformation of the building sector to radically reduce the embodied carbon in building materials and construction through collective action. We pioneer research, create resources, foster cross-collaboration, and incubate member-led initiatives to bring embodied carbon emissions of buildings down to zero. We are architects, engineers, contractors, material suppliers, building owners, and policymakers who are taking bold steps to decarbonize the built environment through better data, policy and innovation.
Accomplishments
To date, the Carbon Leadership Forum is made up of ~6,500 professionals from the building sector, academia and other organizations representing 33 countries across the world. Our collective action model empowers leadership through dozens of local hubs in places like Boston, Vancouver, Seattle and London. Through applied research on embodied carbon data and policy we support the development of tools and other resources like the embodied carbon in construction calculator (EC3), which is now being used by over 11,000 industry professionals to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings.

Cascadia CleanTech/E8
Founded 2019
Mission
The Northwest Cleantech Collaboration consists of the angel investing group E8 and the CleanTech Alliance, united in partnership to increase investment in cleantech enterprises whose products and services mitigate climate change. Other priorities include dramatically expanding the pool of families and foundations investing in cleantech, and increasing knowledge of climate change and cleantech issues.
Accomplishments
The initial capacity building grant helps the Collaboration pursue three activities in the first half of 2020:
- Designing and launching the Decarbon8-US Fund, a philanthropic impact investing vehicle aligned with Northwest 2045 clean energy goals and pathways and making early stage investments in companies anywhere in North America. Decarbon8-US makes it possible for all families, companies, funds and foundations to invest in the innovation and entrepreneurs that will accelerate our transformation to a clean energy economy.
- Building a community of active, inspired investors and donors for cleantech and climatetech. With popular interest in climate change at a high point, there is significant potential for engaging new investors, donors and advocate in common cause.
- Increased networking across the national cleantech startup support ecosystem, connecting and supporting incubators, accelerators, other early stage investors and later stage venture capital funds, to improve the efficiency for enterprises in raising capital and driving their economic and environmental outcomes.

Center for Sustainable Infrastructure
Founded 2013
Mission
The Center for Sustainable Infrastructure (CSI) is a Northwest-focused nonprofit that catalyzes state-of-the-art sustainable infrastructure solutions that help communities thrive economically, socially and environmentally.
CSI has been in operation for almost 7 years, though has only operated as an independent 501c3 since late 2018. Prior to that CSI was a public service center of the Evergreen State College.
Accomplishments
CSI’s strategy of exposing bi-partisan policy-makers to sustainable infrastructure and policy in Scandinavia, for import to the US, resulted in Washington State investment in and adoption of the first statewide Industrial Symbiosis program in the US.
We’ve produced major reports on infrastructure, energy, water and waste that offer decision-makers visionary but practical avenues for accelerating our transition to a sustainable built environment.
Our Innovation Lab has helped communities reimagine how their infrastructure investments can deliver more value for people, planet and economy, and developed proven best practices that others can use to bring sustainable infrastructure to scale.

Chinese Information and Service Center
Founded 1972
Mission
The Chinese Information and Service Center (CISC) aims to create opportunities for Asian immigrants and their families by helping them make the transition to a new life while keeping later generations in touch with their rich heritage. Our service philosophy is to use a holistic approach, with bilingual/bicultural staff providing developmentally appropriate services to individuals, families, and groups throughout the community. The ultimate goal is for our clients to reach their maximum potential as quickly as possible and become self-sufficient, contributing members of the community.
Accomplishments
The CISC’s approach of providing comprehensive services to the entire family has been instrumental in improving the performance outcomes of our clients, as evidenced in our early learning program. While utilizing the evidence-based teaching model for children, we also provide wraparound services that support the parents and caregivers of these children, such as our Parent-Child Home Program, which trains adults on how to effectively nurture and promote the learning that their child receives. The result of this approach was the CISC achieving a score of 4 on a 5-point quality measurement scale by the State Department of Early Learning.

Clean Energy Transition Institute
Founded 2018
Mission
The Clean Energy Transition Institute is an independent, nonpartisan Northwest research and analysis nonprofit organization whose mission is to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy by identifying deep decarbonization strategies; advancing urban clean energy solutions; and building a clean energy workforce. The role of the Clean Energy Transition Institute is to:
- Provide research and analytics on and roadmaps for the pathways to a clean energy economy
- Offer an information clearinghouse for research on decarbonization solutions and technologies
- Convene stakeholders to facilitate the shift to a low-carbon economy
Accomplishments
With support from the Stolte Family Foundation, the Clean Energy Transition Institute commissioned a deep decarbonization pathways study to chart a blueprint for how the Northwest can significantly decrease energy systems emissions in the coming decades. The Institute engaged in an extensive stakeholder process in Washington and Oregon to scope the study and created an expert Technical Advisory Group to inform the study’s assumptions and examine its results. In early 2018, the Institute hired a seasoned economic and technical consulting firm, Evolved Energy Research, to test eight different pathway scenarios.
On June 5, 2019, the Institute released the study, Meeting the Challenge of Our Time: Pathways to a Clean Energy Future for the Northwest, which is the first economy-wide analysis to examine decarbonization pathways through 2050 mapped to the economic and institutional realities of the four Northwest states (Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington). In addition to the study and the technical analysis, the Institute produced a Key Findings document and three infographics to help translate the study’s major conclusions into easy-to-understand materials.
The Institute continues to work with policymakers, advocates, business leaders, nonprofit organizations, and investors to provide analysis and guidance for how to achieve a low-carbon economy in the Northwest at the required scale within the next three decades and to ensure that the findings of the Northwest deep decarbonization pathways study translate into action.

Climate Alliance for Jobs & Clean Energy
Founded 2014
Mission
The Climate Alliance is a coalition of environmental advocates, labor unions, health professionals, businesses, faith communities, and communities of color, working with tribal nations–plus thousands of volunteers from across Washington State–committed building a resilient climate justice movement. Together, we understand that in order to achieve transformative solutions to the climate crisis, we need everyone at the table. We believe the climate crisis requires profound systems transformation – of energy sources, political, and racial power structures, and our economy.
Accomplishments
Over the last five years, we have begun to transform these systems by changing the conversation in our state from whether we should take action on climate, to demonstrating how it should be done: with a broad coalition that includes frontline communities and impacted workers, and policy solutions that combine deep carbon reductions with advances for workers, low-income communities, and communities of color who disproportionately bear the impacts of pollution and of the transition.

EarthGen (Formerly Washington Green Schools)
Founded 2011
Mission
The next generation will inherit two interconnected crises they did not create: climate change and social injustice. Given this legacy, young people need the education and experience to protect our communities and the environment. EarthGen’s mission is to guide and support youth, educators, and K-12 schools to be changemakers for climate solutions and environmental justice. Through its program and partnerships, EarthGen helps close environmental and educational equity gaps that affect historically underserved communities, especially people of color. EarthGen’s vision is that throughout their education, every young person will gain the knowledge and experience to help create a just and sustainable world.
Accomplishments
Each year, thousands of young people build their knowledge of local environmental issues and take action in their communities through EarthGen’s programs. Educators benefit from EarthGen’s training, resources, and support, which make learning about climate change and environmental justice relevant and accessible for their students. By increasing teachers’ knowledge and confidence, EarthGen ensures that students across Washington can learn about climate change, environmental injustice, and potential solutions.
EarthGen partners with scientists, tribal leaders, and other experts to center the best available science in its programs. As a result, educators view EarthGen as a trusted partner who provides accurate information and focuses on relevant issues. EOI campaigned for Paid Family and Medical Leave for two decades, leading it to pass in 2017. Paid family and medical leave went into effect on January 1, 2020 and has provided more than 50,000 people with benefits. EOI led the campaign for statewide Paid Sick Days, which have been in effect since 2018, and for passage of Cascade Care in 2019, the nation’s first public option health plan. EOI led progressive taxation strides, including Washington’s estate tax in 2005 and Seattle’s Income Tax on the Affluent in 2017. Currently EOI is advocating for excessive compensation and excessive wealth taxes.

Educare Seattle
Founded 2010
Mission
Educare Seattle is part of a growing national network that aims to advance equity and excellence in early learning and education. Each Educare school is
- a partnership of Head Start, local school district, philanthropist, and other community organizations;
- a program dedicated to healthy child development leading to school readiness for all children;
- a place that showcases a high-quality early learning environment and related programs; and
- a platform for change that increases public will to support successful outcomes for all children.
Accomplishments
Educare Seattle partners with families and schools to ensure successful kindergarten transitions, prepares families for effective advocacy and leadership in their communities, and helps organize a diverse workforce of teachers to provide culturally and linguistically responsive early learning education. In 2017, we shared best practices with community providers through a series of training programs on data-informed practices. El Centro de la Raza
Founded 1972
Mission
As an organization grounded in Washington State’s Latino community, it is the mission of El Centro de la Raza (the Center for People of All Races) to build the beloved community by unifying all racial and economic sectors; to organize, empower, and defend the basic human rights of our most vulnerable and marginalized populations; and to bring critical consciousness, justice, dignity, and equity to all peoples of the world.
Accomplishments
Since 1972, El Centro de la Raza has been a voice and hub of the Latino community in Seattle and South King County. Of the 16,452 individuals and 10,128 households we served in 2016, 57 percent were Latino, 90 percent were people of color, and 91 percent were low income. An estimated 1 in 3 participants is an immigrant or refugee who speaks limited English. Equity in Education Coalition
Founded 2012
Mission
The Equity in Education Coalition is the only statewide civil rights organization focused on revolutionizing education so that a child’s race and zip code aren’t the predicating factors in defining their success.
To achieve this vision, EEC continues to build a movement of power within communities of color to advocate for an education system that promotes equity.
Accomplishments
- In 2013, the EEC was instrumental in earmarking $800M into the state’s Learning Assistance Program -- which supports low income children and the educational programs that support their educational achievement.
- In 2015, the EEC led the advocacy efforts of decriminalizing our Kindergarten thru 2nd grade disciplinary processes by imposing a moratorium on suspensions and expulsions of students in K-2nd grade.
- In 2016, the EEC led a group of 14 people, including legislators, funders, and decisions makers, to California to learn about CA’s Local Control Funding Formula -- a process undergone by Governor Brown to ensure equity and racial justice in the funding formula for public education.
- In 2019, the EEC held the first ever “Decolonizing Education Conference” which brought together 300 educators, parents, funders, and community leaders to discuss what a truly culturally anchored public education could look like in WA State.

Evergreen Collaborative
Founded 2020
Mission
Evergreen is leading the fight to put bold climate action at the top of America's agenda. We’re building the ambitious, actionable policy roadmap for an all-out mobilization to defeat climate change—and to create millions of jobs in a thriving, just and inclusive clean energy future. We partner with climate and community leaders, and advocate for President Biden and Congress to adopt the urgent climate policies that science demands.
We were founded by a group of former Inslee for America staffers and supporters who came together on a mission to build an all-out national mobilization to defeat the climate crisis and create millions of jobs in a clean energy economy. When Gov. Inslee left the presidential race, he made his 218-page “gold standard” policy plan into an open-source document. It lives on today as the Evergreen Action Plan, a comprehensive roadmap for this national mobilization: investing in and building both a thriving clean-energy economy that strengthens communities and a future rooted in justice and economic inclusion.

Fair Work Center
Founded 2015
Mission
Fair Work Center empowers workers to achieve fair employment. We are a hub for workers to understand and exercise their legal rights, improve working conditions and connect with community resources.
We envision a society in which workers are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of class, gender, or race. We will work to ensure that workers are informed of their rights under the law and that employers are held accountable to labor standards.
Accomplishments
Fair Work Center is a multi-industry workers rights organization that provides community-based outreach, education, and legal services to workers. Along with our sister organization, we are a national leader in organizing food and grocery delivery workers in the gig economy, and recently passed first in the nation paid sick and safe time and hazard pay laws for the industry in Seattle. We led the effort to expand overtime protections for Washington’s salaried workers, and in 2019 passed safety and health protections for strippers. We’ve trained hundreds of farmworkers in Eastern Washington about their rights at work, and we continue to organize domestic workers to enforce Seattle’s groundbreaking Bill of Rights. We focus on industries with high rates of workplace violations, where people of color, immigrants and refugees, women, LGBTQ+ workers and young workers are more likely to work. Over the last several years we have trained tens of thousands of workers on their rights at work, and this past year our legal clinic recovered over $1 million dollars for workers.

Firelands Workers United
Founded 2019
Mission
Firelands Workers United Trabajadores Unidos builds multiracial working-class power in rural battleground counties in WA State to fight for a just economy for people and the planet. Through grassroots organizing, civic engagement, education and media, we work to win transformative policy change benefiting working people and the land.
Accomplishments
Firelands launched with 300 deep listening conversations with low-wage workers in 7 rural counties. Through these conversations and 4 community dinners, Firelands developed a Green New Deal platform and was about to launch a campaign for a Workers Bill of Rights when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. In response to the crises we: launched an all-Latina and Spanish-speaking team of 11 community resource promoters who supported over 200 immigrant families with resources; organized a bilingual caravan; joined county task force and statewide coalitions; gathered advocacy letters; phonebanked with a survey and petition; and started a 20-member Organizing Committee and a 10-person Steering Committee, both bilingual and majority Latina.

Forth
Founded 2011
Mission
Forth was founded as Drive Oregon 2011, and became Forth in 2017.
Forth's mission is to electrify transportation by bringing people together to create solutions that reduce pollution and barriers to access. We work in partnership to build lasting program and policy models that significantly expand equitable access to electric transportation in the U.S. and beyond.
Accomplishments
One of Forth’s hallmarks is our annual Roadmap Conference, the largest electric mobility conference in the U.S. We also helped pass Oregon’s first EV rebate: a standard $2,500 rebate, as well as an additional $5,000 for low-income drivers (increased in 2022 from $2,500 in large part due to Forth’s lobbying efforts). Forth works to make clean transportation options equitable and accessible and was a founding member of the Clean and Just Transportation Network to facilitate that work in Oregon. We provide workshops and webinars to educate the public on electric transportation. Forth also opened the nation’s first brand-neutral, all-electric vehicle showroom and recently built a mobile electric showcase to bring outreach and education to communities all across the state.

Front & Centered
Founded 2014
Mission
Front and Centered strives to elevate the voices and interests of communities of color as a driving force on public policy, community-based education, and investments addressing climate change and pollution. Coalition members share three core beliefs: FIRST, communities of color and low-income communities experience the most harmful consequences of climate change and pollution in terms of job loss, displacement, compromised health and wellness. SECOND, any successful policy addressing the environment must include equity as a central tenet. THIRD, any successful organizing strategy to win on climate change or the environment, must include the partnership of communities of color.
Accomplishments
Front and Centered was created by leaders of color who recognized that climate change and pollution disproportionately affected people of color and people with low-incomes. They understood that their leadership, and the engagement of their communities, was essential to the success of any effort to solve the urgent threat of climate change. Over the past five years, Front and Centered has emerged as a leading force on equitable and just environmental policies and greater diversity and inclusion in Washington state’s environmental movement.
Recent Accomplishments include:
- Advised the Governor and legislative leaders regarding equitable climate and environmental policies.
- Played key role in developing and leading the effort on the nation’s most equitable climate policy that went to the ballot in November 2018.
- Created, in partnership with University of Washington, the Environmental Justice Mapping Tool, a groundbreaking framework for guiding equitable policy-making throughout Washington State.
- Reached over 120,000 people of color to listen to their concerns and ways in which climate and environmental disparities impact their lives.
- Generated 28-plus earned media pieces in local and national publications including AP, Reuters, The Nation, Politico, Mother Jones and others.

Fuse Innovation Fund
Founded 2017
Mission
Fuse Innovation Fund aims to achieve progress through government by the people and for the people in Washington state. We give ordinary people a stronger voice on the issues that matter most to their communities. We add organizing and communications capacity to issue-based campaigns. We share lessons-learned to increase the capacity and effectiveness of the progressive movement in Washington state, and work to hold those in power accountable to ensure all voices are heard, not just those of the wealthy few.
Accomplishments
In 2018, Fuse worked with community partners in the Washington Voting Justice Coalition to advocate for historic improvements to Washington’s voting system. The Communications Hub team generated nearly 100 news stories locally and nationally on the effort to expand voting access and give everyone the opportunity to have their voice heard. We will build on these efforts to strengthen our democracy by registering thousands of new voters this year across Washington state.
In 2017, Fuse helped organize 1,000 people to advocate for protected access to healthcare and immigrants in our community, generating more than 200 news stories locally and nationally.

Futurewise
Founded 1990
Mission
For almost 30 years, Futurewise has worked to prevent poorly planned sprawl, to protect our State’s resources and to make our urban areas livable for and available to all. Founded to help support implementation of Washington’s innovative Growth Management Act, we focus on preventing the conversion of wildlife habitat, open space, farmland, and working forests to subdivisions and development, while directing growth into our cities and towns. We promote urban development that incorporates livability, housing affordability, sustainable transportation, social justice, public health and environmental quality.
Accomplishments
- Staffed the Seattle for Everyone campaign to pass inclusionary upzones, allow more backyard cottages, and increase tenant protections throughout Seattle in 2019.
- Won a 2011 Washington State Supreme Court ruling requiring new ground water users to mitigate their impacts on the Yakima River.
- Won a 2009 Washington State Supreme Court ruling requiring Whatcom County to reorient residential growth towards urban areas.

The Institute for Learning & Brain Sciences (I-LABS) is an interdisciplinary center dedicated to discovering the fundamental principles of human learning, with a special emphasis on early learning and brain development. We collaborate with national and international organizations in a growing movement to help children maximize their learning capability. KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio
Founded 1952
Mission
KUOW’s mission is to create and serve an informed public, one challenged and invigorated by an understanding and appreciation of events, ideas, and cultures. American’s trust in media is declining, which is contributing to the country’s balkanization, to people no longer sharing a common understanding of the problems we face. By publishing first-rate storytelling that leverages the voices from the community we serve, we aim to draw a broad community into serious journalism, including people from all walks of life. We’re working to bind the community together with common understanding rather than let it rend apart.
Accomplishments
In 2017, KUOW’s broadcast audience averaged 386,000 listeners per week, its digital aggregate audience averaged 741,000 visitors per month, and its streaming sessions have been consistently above the 1 million mark with a monthly average of 1,319,498. All of these numbers are trending upward as we near 2018. KUOW launched the “terrestrial” podcast’s season one in spring and season two in fall, and it has exceeded 500,000 downloads to date. Season one listenership rocketed us into the top 1 percent of all 400,000 podcasts listed in the iTunes directory, and of those 1-percenters, we're the only one focused exclusively on the environment and climate change.

Look, Listen & Learn
Founded 2004
Mission
Look, Listen and Learn TV (LL+L) inspires and advances early learning in young children of color by offering a locally-produced television show and related programming that is anchored in research about what works best to promote school readiness and success.
With Auntie Lena and Possum, children develop social-emotional skills and a love for learning through educational activities including storytelling, art and cooking. LL+L is streaming on YouTube and airs on local TV stations.
Accomplishments
Look, Listen and Learn TV filmed its first full season with local kids, educators and learning venues in 2019. Since then, LL+L has reached nearly 2,000 people on YouTube and thousands more on public television stations Seattle Channel, King County TV and Tukwila TV. The LL+L team is proud to make innovative media which shows kids of color learning: 95% of the kids and adults featured on the show are Black, Indigenous or people of color (BIPOC) compared to just 4% of children’s TV characters nationwide. Mission
Media Matters for America provides the means to systematically monitor a cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio, and Internet media outlets for misinformation - news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards a particular agenda - every day, in real time. Media Matters posts rapid-response items as well as longer research and analytic reports documenting misinformation throughout the media. Additionally, Media Matters works daily to notify activists, journalists, pundits, and the general public about instances of misinformation, providing them with the resources to rebut false claims and to take direct action against offending media institutions.
Accomplishments
- Media Matters has published hundreds of pieces discrediting life-threatening coronavirus misinformation, and our work has fueled government legal action against misinformers.
- Our research spurred Disney and Papa John’s to drop their advertising from Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox.
- Our expertise played a major role in Facebook’s 2020 decision, to curb manipulated media such as deepfake video.
- We stopped right-wing propaganda mill Sinclair Broadcasting’s proposed takeover of Tribune Media.
- Our headlines study showed how major media reinforced Trump’s rampant lies. Then our follow-up work with media brought a striking improvement.

NMV is a mission-driven venture fund and investor network supporting media and tech startups that catalyze progressive change. Our mission is to find, support, and finance organizations that are telling new stories, building movements, and boosting civic engagement. We envision a world in which entrepreneurs have the resources at every stage of growth to solve the big civic and political problems facing our democracy.

Since our inception, NMV has evaluated thousands of startups and mobilized more than $60 million to 60 companies and organizations driving progressive change. We’re proud of the role NMV has played in helping to launch groups like Upworthy, SumOfUs and Vote.org. Our 2017 Resist & Rebuild open call received 500 applications from entrepreneurs focused on serving a more empowered democracy. After a thorough diligence process, we invested $1 million in 17 promising startups – including for-profits, 501c3/c4 nonprofits, and 527s. Since then, we have worked with our angel network to raise an additional $2 million for these groups.

Open Doors For Multicultural Families
Founded 2009
Mission
Open Doors for Multicultural Families (Open Doors or ODMF) provides culturally and linguistically relevant information, services, and programming to culturally and linguistically diverse families of persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The families served are often immigrants, refugees, and/or people of color. ODMF’s staff come from the same culture and speak the same language as the families they serve, communicating with families in their own language and within their cultural context (a “cultural brokering” model), as well as being knowledgeable of disabilities services, Special Education, and other mainstream social services, to help bridge the gap between the families served and the services they need.
Accomplishments
Over the course of 10 years, ODMF has serviced thousands of culturally and linguistically diverse individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families. ODMF's services range from direct one-on-one family support and specialized programming to advocating for systems change. One of ODMF's most recent achievements was the passage of the Language Access Bill, which provides mandates for improved equitable access to IEP meetings for culturally and linguistically diverse parents of children with disabilities. Through the advocacy efforts of ODMF Staff and our families, the Language Access bill was signed by Governor lnslee into law on May 7, 2019.

Oregon Environmental Council
Founded 1968
Mission
OEC’s mission is to advance innovative, collaborative and equitable solutions to Oregon’s environmental challenges for today and future generations. Our 2012-2022 strategic plan focuses our work on: climate protection to safeguard our communities and economy; clean and plentiful water to support people, fish and wildlife; and toxic-free environments to protect human health, starting with children’s health. It also includes two cross-cutting goals to ensure that we focus on advancing change at a transformative scale and that all of our efforts are developed and implemented through a social equity lens.
Accomplishments
Our recent advocacy work with our partners is generating important benefits for Oregon’s climate:
- 1.2 million tons of climate pollution are eliminated annually because of Oregon's Clean Fuels law (2009-present), and those amounts will more than double by 2030.
- $1.2 billion was committed over the next 10 years to transit, electric vehicle rebates and bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure (2017).
In 2021, we:
- helped pass the nation’s strongest 100% clean electricity law, requiring Oregon to eliminate coal by 2030 and natural gas by 2040.
- secured first-ever limits on climate emissions from industry (a 50% reduction by 2035)

Rooted in Latin American culture, language, and values, Para Los Niños de Highline organizes from the heart, strengthens the entire Latino family, and supports children and parents as they learn and grow together. We’re a grassroots, community-led organization that educates and organizes South King County Latino families to transform our communities and schools, creating academic and life success for every Latino student.
Accomplishments

Pathwaves WA
Founded 2021
Mission
Pathwaves WA creates pathways for leaders of color to hold decision-making roles in early childhood systems so they can equitably drive and shape the design of policies that affect generations and generations of our kids and our communities. Founded by a collective of women and non-binary people of color, we’re a Washington-based organization working within the early childhood policy sector in our state. Our goal is to make the sector more just and inclusive by increasing representation and power in this space so that there are more leaders of color — particularly people from Black, Indigenous, Latinx and Pacific Islander communities — because communities that are most impacted by educational injustices must be represented in positions of power.

Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS)
Founded 1983
Mission
The Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS) mission is to enable parents of infants and young children to build communities that empower them to meet the challenges of parenting through mutual support and information sharing. Our high-level organizational goal is to grow our reach and impact by increasing access and availability of PEPS groups; engage with communities in each of our three service regions; demonstrate our commitment to racial equity; strengthen our culture of diversity and inclusion; and grow the PEPS Network and community partnerships.
Accomplishments
PEPS has served tens of thousands of families in King and Snohomish counties over the past 35 years. Through our programs, we create social connections, foster parental resilience, model secure attachment to babies, teach about child development and parenting, and connect families to community resources. In 2016, 83 percent of parents in our support groups reported feeling less alone and 84 percent better understood their feelings; 9 out of 10 better understood their baby’s milestone and received helpful resources; and 92 percent of our newborn groups kept meeting after their 12=week group sessions concluded.

Reach Out & Read Washington
Founded 2007
Mission
Reach Out & Read Washington gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. In our evidence-based school readiness program, doctors give children new books and inspire families to read together, starting when children are babies. At each well-child checkup from ages 6 months through 5 years, doctors use a children’s book to help assess child development and parent-child interactions, while modeling for and teaching families how to promote literacy at home.
Accomplishments
Reach Out & Read Washington partners with communities and doctors to provide a free and accessible program that serves many of the most vulnerable children in the state. Families across cultures embrace this proven program, reading aloud more often and helping their children improve their language and literacy skills. To date, we’ve expanded the program to more than 1,750 medical providers in over 222 clinics, serving more than 125,000 young children and their families. Reach Out & Read Washington is now the largest early learning program in the state. We’re proud to simultaneously expand access, assure quality, and prioritize equity.

Rural Democracy Initiative
Founded 2018
Mission
RDI is a coalition of local and national rural innovators and aligned funders working in states where powerful, progressive, and permanent civic infrastructure in small cities and towns will have the biggest impact on public opinion, elections and redistricting processes. We are building sustainable infrastructure that supports rural people working to transform rural America – and therefore our national politics – for decades to come. RDI offers a high impact program of coordinated rural civic engagement, communications, policy advocacy, and community organizing efforts. The Heartland Fund houses our charitable civic engagement and issue advocacy programs.
Accomplishments
In 2020 Heartland Fund granted $6.5M to 71 groups based in 18 states – 41% to groups working primarily in rural communities of color. RDI granted an additional $2.8M in 501c4 funding. Our network organizes in diverse rural communities: Native American, Black, Latinx and youth organizations, restaurant and retail workers, farmers, small business owners and mobile home communities.
We support cutting edge field experiments including a People’s Action program recently featured in Rolling Stone, relational organizing led by groups like Voces de la Frontera, and tailored digital platforms at United for Respect. Our network leads groundbreaking rural communications research, and we have established rural communications hubs at RuralOranizing.org, Progress Michigan, Progress Arizona and Wisconsin Voices.
Funding
Rural Democracy Initiative is a project that includes the 501c3 Heartland Fund and the 501c4 Rural Victory Fund. The Heartland Fund was founded in 2018. In 2019 the founders of the project established the Rural Victory Fund, hired staff – Project Director Sarah Jaynes – and dramatically expanded their scope and budget under the umbrella of the Rural Democracy Initiative. Southeast Seattle Education Coalition
Founded 2012
Mission
SESEC’s mission is to rally communities of color and allies to improve SE Seattle schools so that all students succeed and all families are empowered. We work to achieve this through the following programs and projects: (a) Family Engagement Surveys, (b) Advocacy and Policy Cohorts (APC), (c) Equity and Equality in Education (EEE) Project, and (d) Exploring Data Accessibility and Analysis Project.
Accomplishments

In November 2017, SESEC received its 501c3 non-profit status from the IRS and, in 2018, separated from VFA to be an independent organization.
Key achievements of SESEC include:

Start Early (Formerly The Ounce)
Founded 1982
Mission
Start Early was founded in 1982 as the Ounce of Prevention Fund, a nonprofit public-private partnership. Since the beginning, we have delivered best-in-class doula, home visiting and Early Head Start and Head Start programs and advocated for thoughtful policies and adequate funding at the local, state, and federal levels. From our roots directly serving families and children on Chicago’s South Side and rural Illinois, we have expanded nationwide impacting early childhood programs and policies with partnerships in 25 states. Our role as on-the-ground practitioners continues to be the bedrock of our expertise and source of innovation and leadership in the field.
Accomplishments
Start Early (formerly known as the Ounce) applies our deep expertise across program, policy and research to optimize and scale our work. Our comprehensive approach allows us to create impact for the greatest number of children, families and educators.
- Through this work, we reached more than 202,000 children, families and early childhood professionals last fiscal year.
- Our intensive policy and advocacy consultation enabled policymakers in seven states to build more equitable systems for nearly 2.3 million children between the ages of 0-5.
- We connected over 2,300 early childhood system leaders with the knowledge they need to accelerate progress in 49 states and Washington, D.C.

State Innovation Exchange (SiX)
Founded 2014
Mission
The State Innovation Exchange (SiX) is a national resource and strategy center that supports state legislators in advancing and defending progressive policies across the country, and has built a network of more than 3,000 elected officials who represent all 50 states. SiX is the result of an unprecedented merger of three organizations that combined forces to ensure state legislators are empowered with top-notch research, training, policy expertise, communications support, political strategy, and a space to network and share ideas. SiX also builds the legislative power of grassroots movements and progressive causes – connecting policymakers with the important organizing work being done in communities across the nation.
Accomplishments
In the last year, we have organized three twitter town halls with several dozen legislators participating. We garnered buy in for a unified agenda from progressive partners across the state and produced a messaging guide on progressive priorities for legislators to use. We’ve been hosting and facilitating several conversations to help progressive legislators better organize themselves. Following the end of session, we put together the first ever statewide tour to promote progressive wins and champions from the legislative session. The tour included 6 stops from Bellingham to Spokane covering a huge array of issues.

Supporting Partnerships in Education and Beyond (SPEB)
Working to close the education gap by promoting parent leaders in the education system.

Supporting Partnerships in Education and Beyond (SPEB)
Founded 2015 (formerly Somali Parents Education Board)
Mission
- To close the education gap by promoting parent leaders in the education system.
- Partner with parent leaders, providing workshops, inform parents about policy changes at the local, state, and federal levels in the education system.
- Work with Somali parents and students to embrace their dual culture while navigating the education system.
- Collectively collaborate with existing organizations that share similar values as SPEB to make meaningful and positive influences to shift the education system.
- Partner with schools to develop culturally responsive methods to communicate/include parent voices.
Accomplishments
Our vision is to inspire Somali parents to become leaders and strong advocates for themselves and their children’s education by providing them with the resources and the support they need.
We believe our children’s success depends upon strong partnerships between parents, schools, and communities. To that end, we strive to work with Somali parents and students to embrace their dual culture while navigating the education system. We partner with parent leaders to provide workshops and inform parents about education policy changes at the local, state, and federal levels, while also working with schools to develop culturally responsive methods to communicate/include parent voices.
In 2018, we launched Transforming Partnerships in Education: A Learning Institute for Educators and Parents. This is a nine-month journey to strengthen the capacity of parents and educators to collaborate with Somali community members and change norms within our schools and K-12 education system.
Through monthly Saturday sessions, participants will learn how to build trusting relationships that lead to reciprocal learning and partnership between parents and educators, identify structural inequities within education, embed community assets through shared decision making and leadership, and assess and change the climate, practices, and policies of our schools and institutions using an equity-based approach.
Topics will include creating a shared vision for our children’s education, addressing institutional racism and implicit bias, assessing and creating a culturally responsive school environment, and cultivating authentic engagement between families and educators.

Team Read
Founded 1997
Mission
Team Read is a year-round (after school and summer) tutoring and youth development/employment program with the mission of “teens tutoring kids to achieve reading success.” Our goal is for our second- and third-grade students to read at grade level after a year of one-on-one tutoring, and for teen reading coaches to gain critical work and life skills. We serve elementary and K-8 schools where assessments show that second- and third-graders need intensive reading support beyond the classroom. Team Read gives vulnerable children the opportunity to regain reading traction and a chance to succeed in school and life.
Accomplishments
Since 1998, thousands of students have been engaged in Team Read. Elementary students become better, more confident readers, and teens learn the value of community service and build their work and college resumes. We’re proud that our teen workforce is incredibly diverse—85 percent of our reading coaches are students of color—and last year’s coaches spoke 21 different languages (our second- and third-graders spoke 24). As academically successful students, they’re powerful role models and mentors for their students. We love that, every year, teens become coaches who were themselves tutored in Team Read.

The Nature Conservancy
Founded 1959
Mission
The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to conserve the lands and waters upon which all life depends.
The Nature Conservancy in Washington is dedicated to sustaining and enhancing a healthy relationship between people and nature. As part of the world’s largest global conservation organization, we are uniquely positioned to deliver innovative solutions to our most pressing conservation needs and leverage them at a meaningful scale assuring the quality of life for people and nature, in our state—and in our world.
Accomplishments
Increasingly, climate change is central to our efforts across conservation priorities. In the past year, through science-based strategies that tackle real-world risks, we established 12 fire-adapted communities and trained more than 50 professionals in prescribed fire. We planted 70,000 seedlings to restore landscapes devastated by the 2017 Jolly Mountain Fire; and we published research that revealed increased wildfire risk and vulnerability faced by 1,458 minority communities in Washington, including Indigenous tribes.
Across the state, we took our efforts from treetops to grassroots, knocking on hundreds of doors to urge climate action through I-1631. This momentum carried us into a historic legislative session, where we championed clean energy and climate justice to advance five key legislative wins in partnership with a broad, diverse coalition.

The Wilderness Society
Founded 1935
Mission
The Wilderness Society’s mission is to protect wilderness and inspire Americans to care for our wild places. We contribute to better protection, stewardship, and restoration of our public lands, preserving our rich natural legacy for current and future generations. We achieve this mission through research-based identification and protection of land and water, smart energy development on public lands, and removal of barriers for people getting outside.
Accomplishments
The Wilderness Society has led the effort to permanently protect nearly 110 million acres of wilderness in 44 states. We’ve been at the forefront of nearly every major public land victory. One-quarter of US emissions originate via fossil fuels on public land, making public land a massive lever for ensuring that the US meets both energy needs and emission reductions. We also advocate for responsible energy development, including smart sourcing of renewable energy to reduce impact on the ecosystem and recreation.

Thrive Washington
Founded 2006
Mission
Thrive Washington brings together people, data, expertise, and family voices to develop a shared vision for what Washington’s youngest children and families require for a great start. Specifically, we amplify local voices to influence state policy and practice, elevate key issues, and serve as a crucial conduit to spur action and broaden the statewide commitment to early learning. We also invest in both proven solutions and those with great potential to accelerate progress by joining with others to innovate and build evidence, so that we all improve the way we support children and families.
Accomplishments
Thrive Washington helped lead the creation of the state’s 10-year early learning plan. We also coordinated and supported 10 early learning regional coalitions to build local, regional, and state early learning efforts, partnering with the Native American community to help them have a stronger voice in early learning. Thrive Washington launched “Love. Talk. Play.,” a campaign to support families of babies and toddlers as their children’s first and most important teachers. We also worked with partners to develop a toolkit on trauma and adverse childhood experiences for use in home visits.

Transportation Choices Coalition
Founded 1993
Mission
Our mission: Transportation Choices Coalition is working to bring Washingtonians more and better transportation choices — real opportunities to take a bus, catch a train, ride a bike, or walk.
Our vision: Affordable, walkable, bike-friendly, vibrant communities connected by great transit.
Our organizational goals for 2022 include increasing multimodal funding at the state, regional, and local levels and institutionalizing racial equity internally and throughout the transportation system.
Accomplishments
In the past two years, TCC has won billions of dollars in State and Federal funding for public transit, helped pass Seattle Proposition 1 and preserved bus service and transit affordability programs, and supported Sound Transit to adopt an equitable realignment plan keeping Washington’s transit expansion on track.
TCC created a comprehensive campaign around policing and enforcement in transportation that will advance mobility justice, redefine safety, repair harm, and center racial equity. TCC continues to work with national partners such as TransitCenter, the Transportation Equity Caucus, and the National Campaign for Transit Justice to institutionalize racial equity in transportation.

Treehouse
Founded 1988
Mission
Treehouse’s mission is to give foster kids a childhood and a future. We envision—and strive to create—a world where every child that has experienced foster care has the opportunities and support they need to pursue their dreams and become productive members of our community. Treehouse currently serves more than 7,500 youth in foster care each year through programs that focus on their academic success, fulfill key material needs and provide important childhood experiences every child deserves.
Accomplishments
Treehouse set a bold goal in 2012 that youth in foster care in King County would graduate high school at the same rate as their peers by 2017. Today, the extended graduation rate for youth in our program, Graduation Success, is 89 percent—seven percent higher than all students in the state. The rate includes on-time and fifth-year graduations throughout King County, and a growing number of school districts in Pierce and Spokane counties. Treehouse’s new goal is to expand that success statewide by 2022, with each graduate receiving support and a plan to launch successfully into adulthood.

United Way of King County
Founded 1921
Mission
The United Way of King County’s mission is to bring caring people together to give, volunteer, and take action in a way that helps people in need and solves our community’s toughest challenges. This is a bold vision, and it takes the coordinated efforts of many other players, including individual donors, volunteers, businesses, foundations, public funders, and nonprofit partners. Together, we’re building a community where people have homes, students graduate, and families are financially stable.
Accomplishments
The United Way of King County’s Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) is an intensive two-year home visiting program aimed at closing the opportunity gap by intentionally reaching out to low income families, families of color, and immigrant and refugee families. Earlier this year, our evaluation partner, ORS Impact, reported that the success our PCHP graduates experience and take with them to the first day of kindergarten sticks with them for years to come. Kids who completed the program not only entered kindergarten ready for school, they outperformed the comparison group on nearly every measure.

Urban Impact’s mission is to partner with families and communities to break the cycle of social, material, and spiritual poverty. Our community engagement organization is working hard to identify and transform under-resourced neighborhoods in greater Seattle into flourishing communities. Utilizing Christian Community Development efforts, we engage a thousand individuals and 20 churches through trainings, gatherings, and other events. In the Rainier Valley, we’ve built community wealth and financial stability by supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses. Urban Impact provides refugee resettlement programs and after school/school break programming; in 2017-18, we’re working to create and sustain a well-established tutoring and support systems for Franklin and Evergreen High School students, faculty and staff.
Accomplishments
Urban Impact, celebrating its 30th year of service in the Rainier Valley community this year, is launching a new partnership with Franklin High School to provide homework and tutoring help for students. Our summer literacy program is culturally and ethnically relevant for 70 South Seattle children who have a disproportionately higher level of summer learning loss compared to children in more affluent neighborhoods. Verde
Founded 2005
Mission
Verde serves communities by building environmental wealth through social enterprise, outreach and advocacy.
Verde’s five program areas are a reflection of community-identified priorities: generating monetary wealth and physical infrastructure (Verde Builds, Living Cully), securing beneficial environmental investments and policies through policy advocacy and community organizing (Energy, Climate & Transportation; Healthy Communities Coalition, Living Cully) and creating a shared analysis through developing leaders and building community power (Living Cully, Outreach).
Accomplishments
Cully Park, transformed a 25-acre landfill into a park in the under-served Cully neighborhood. We raised $14 million over six years to build the park, engaged thousands of Portlanders in the design and build, and achieved 70% minority- and woman- owned business participation.
Co-led Portland Clean Energy Fund, winning the only climate initiative to pass anywhere in the country in the mid-term elections. The Fund creates $54-71 million annually to be invested in low-income and people of color communities in Portland, to be built by minority, women-owned and social enterprises partnering with non-profits who will competitively access the Fund.

Vietnamese Friendship Association
Founded 1978
Mission
The Vietnamese Friendship Association’s (VFA’s) mission is to advance equity in education, foster civic engagement, and advocate for Vietnamese and other refugee and immigrant communities. Some of our organization’s goals this year are to strengthen systems and processes for Project: R.I.S.E., increase board capacity, and complete and implement an engagement plan.
Accomplishments
The VFA, in partnership with Sound Child Care Solutions and Artspace, opened Hoa Mai, the first (and right now, only) Vietnamese-English bilingual preschool in the Pacific Northwest. We successfully branded our youth program as Project: R.I.S.E. (Refugee and Immigrant Student Empowerment), creating a stronger identity and affiliation for students, parents, volunteers, and donors. The VFA works closely with Seattle World School (SWS) and other community organizations to provide after school programs, Saturday English School, and Summer Science Academy for SWS youth. Students who participate in the VFA’s academic programs make strong academic gains: over 85 percent have increased their math and English scores by the equivalent of half a grade level, as measured by standardized tests.

Voices of Tomorrow
Founded 2012
Mission
Voices of Tomorrow’s mission is to preserve Immigrant & Refugee children's identity through culturally responsive child-focused programs, with the vision of a strong sustainable community that's successful in defining its own liberation and narratives. Voices of Tomorrow (VOT) works closely with community partners to eliminate racial inequities in the Early Learning System, which deeply affect Immigrant and Refugee children’s growth, development, and academic performances. Early childhood is the most critical phase of human development, and the focus of Voices of Tomorrow is to create early learning programs that preserves the child’s culture/language, while advancing African indigenous parenting practices and community-driven narratives.
Accomplishments
In 2017, VOT set out to better understand the needs of the Somali refugee and immigrant community. Out of 650 families surveyed, 500 of them said that their number one need was to preserve their child’s Somali language and culture. Valuing what the parents wanted, VOT used this data to drive its next move and create a Somali-English dual language pre-school in 2017, the first in the Nation.

Washington Environmental Council is a nonprofit, statewide advocacy organization that has been driving positive change to solve Washington’s most critical environmental challenges for over 50 years. Our mission is to protect, restore, and sustain Washington’s environment for all.
Accomplishments
WEC was instrumental in passing (and now enforcing) the foundational laws that help keep Washington’s environment healthy: the State Environmental Policy Act, the State Superfund Law, the Growth Management Act, and the Shoreline Management Act.
We bring the environmental community together through the Environmental Priorities Coalition. Thanks to our focused power, we have been able to achieve groundbreaking solutions – from promoting clean cars and greener buildings to setting responsible limits on climate pollution to eliminating dangerous toxins in children’s products.
Through our Voter Education Program, WEC helps educate and empower environmental voters and tackle ballot initiatives that would have an impact on our environment.

Washington Progress Alliance
Founded 2006
Mission
The Washington Progress Alliance's vision is that Washington State is a healthy, just place to live, with shared economic success and security, and a democracy that works for its people. We want solutions that are truly at the scale of the problems we face. Our mission is to build a permanent and powerful progressive movement in Washington State supported by a network of committed donors.
Accomplishments
In 2016, the Washington Progress Fund invested over $1 million to support civic engagement, and we've achieved impressive results from that investment. Our investments in All In for Washington and the Washington State Budget and Policy Center, for example, supported development of the leading state revenue proposal to end the tax break on capital gains. The Communications Hub at Fuse also trained more than 500 communicators to talk about the role of government, taxes and the economy, and conducted 45 workshops on this narrative for over 1,300 activists statewide. In addition, we helped to launch the Democracy Hub at the Win/Win Network to implement coordinated policy changes that increase access to voting, reduce the influence of money in politics, and build a more reflective democracy.

Washington State Budget & Policy Center
Founded 2005
Mission
The Washington State Budget & Policy Center is a policy organization that uses research and analysis to advance the well-being of Washington communities, improve the economic security and social opportunity of all in the state, and support the essential role of government in promoting a just and prosperous society.
Accomplishments
In 2005, a visionary group of public policy experts, community leaders, and social justice advocates joined forces to create a nonpartisan organization that would ensure that Washington state invests in the priorities that create a more just and prosperous state. A year later, the Washington State Budget & Policy Center was officially open for business. For the past 12 years, the Budget & Policy Center has played a role in leading and supporting many significant policy successes in our state, while advocating for a state budget and tax code that equitably invest in the priorities that serve all Washingtonians.
In 2017, after we showed why granting tax breaks for big manufacturing corporations without basic transparency or accountability provisions was a bad deal for our state, Governor Inslee vetoed a proposed new tax break for manufacturers and protected funding for schools. This action informed our ongoing effort with All In for Washington to flip Washington state’s upside-down tax code.
In 2017, after we advocated for greater higher education access through WorkFirst for people with low incomes, the legislature increased the amount of post-secondary education available from 12 to 24 months.

Win|Win Network
Working to advance racial, social, and economic equity across Washington through civic and political engagement.

Win|Win Network
Founded 2008
Mission
Win|Win’s mission is to build a civically powerful network to advance social, racial, and economic equity throughout Washington State.
Accomplishments
Win|Win Network was founded over 10 years ago on the fundamental belief that we can build a stronger and more effective progressive movement when we work across different issues and silos. We are a network of organizations coming together to advance racial, social, and economic equity across Washington through civic and political engagement. We work together to create a democracy that inspires people because they see themselves and their values reflected in the policies we advocate, the campaigns we organize, and leaders we elect.
Win|Win is uniquely positioned to see the big picture intersections between advocacy, community, and service provider organizations and the opportunities to collaborate for long term changes that will address systemic disparities in our democracy and break down barriers to participation. We provide coordination, data and research, and individual technical assistance to over 30 different partner organizations. Most recently, our partners were successful in putting Washington at the forefront of voting access through recent wins on Automatic Voter Registration, the WA Voting Rights Act, pre-registration for 16 and 17 year olds, and postage-paid ballots. Looking ahead, we are organizing with community groups to ensure an accurate count in the 2020 Census and to use that data to build community power through Washington’s redistricting efforts in 2021.

YMCA of Greater Seattle
Founded 1876
Mission
The YMCA of Greater Seattle is the Northwest's leading human services nonprofit organization, strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Our mission is to build a community where all people, especially the young, are encouraged to develop to their fullest potential in spirit, mind, and body. We have a long history of providing services in our region and are uniquely suited to provide programming to all, especially to traditionally underserved groups. Since 1999, the Y has partnered with public schools and housing communities in the greater Seattle area to provide the support and resources needed for students to learn and thrive.
Accomplishments
The YMCA of Greater Seattle is so much more than swim and a gym. We provide crucial programs and services to more than 250,000 people in our region every year. In 2016, students in our brand-new summer program, Y Power Scholars Academy, gained an average of one month in their math skills and two months in their reading skills. These are students who otherwise might have slid backward in their learning by two months. Instead, they started the new school year ahead of where they finished the previous one and were set up to succeed.

Mission
YDEKC’s mission is to build and unify the youth development sector. Our vision is that every young person has the opportunity and support they need to learn, lead, connect, contribute, and thrive. We are guided by our over 100 non-profit member organizations supporting children and youth in King County.
Accomplishments
YDEKC is a key voice for youth and youth serving organizations in King County. Since organizing in 2011, we have elevated issues around whole child outcomes and the importance of social, emotional and academic learning. We have three core strategies:

- Cross-Sector Collaboration: Partner with education, government, and philanthropic sectors to ensure young people can reach their full potential
- Leadership & Organizational Development: Support leadership and organizational development in youth serving non-profits including measurement and evaluation
To learn more about the progress we made in our first five years, please check out our retrospective report here. YDEKC has grown to six staff members, guided by an Advisory Board made up of YDEKC members. School’s Out Washington has served as YDEKC’s fiscal sponsor since inception.

Zeno
Founded 2006
Mission
Zeno's mission is to increase children’s competence and confidence in math with fun, engaging activities. Our programs serve children ages 3 to 11 as well as the adults in their lives, including parents, teachers, and caregivers. Our current strategic goals include expanding our early learning program (MathWays), serving families most in need of math resources, investing in program evaluation, and promoting the value of joyful math education for children and families.
Accomplishments
Zeno has made significant progress in establishing MathWays as a fully operational program. With the support of the Stolte Family Foundation, we’ll reach 500 families this year and plan to expand the program to reach 1,500 families in the 2017-2018 school year. As we continue to build the program, we’ve refined our game design and packaging, expanded program staff, partnered with a communications and marketing firm to create an innovative family discussion group evaluation model, and extended partnerships to a variety of community-based family service organizations to reach families where they live, work, and play.
Quote/Testimonial
“Our partnership with the Stolte Family Foundation has allowed us to build MathWays for the early learning program from the ground up. We place tremendous value in the meetings we have with SFF representatives, who continue to ask excellent questions and challenge our thinking around the program, resulting in program improvement and organizational growth.”—Julie Marl, Executive Director
